What makes Streams of Grace unique?

There are lots of churches to choose from, why choose Streams of Grace?

UntitledAt Streams of Grace, we strive to create a culture that is loving and nonjudgmental, so you can be yourself, your children can be who they are, and we all learn and grow in God’s grace, together. Our ultimate goal is to love God, each other, and share that love with the people that God puts in our path. How do we this?

Adaptations. While we want to keep the key elements that make up a great worship service, we also recognize that some of our friends may benefit from adapting those elements. For example, while we love preaching the Word of God, we find creative ways to break it up into smaller segments because listening can be hard work, no matter how young or old you are.

Tangible activities. We also include some tangible activities that help us remember what we talked about and keep it going throughout our week. In our first service, we used name tags to write out our negative labels that bring us down. Then we wrote out a new label, and we used it to cover over all the old negative ones. The new label simply said, “Hi. My name is: loved by God.”

Volume. We keep our volumes lower. We love to sing praises to God, but we know that sometimes loud volumes keep people from worshiping freely. So we aim to keep our music a little mellow and a little bit quiet, even though we sing a range of songs from modern worship, to meaningful children’s songs, to great hymns. We love our worship leader’s beautiful voice, and we love to hear you sing, too! Most importantly, God loves it when we sing to Him.

We let kids be kids. Yes, we love and encourage our children to pay attention because they stay with us in the worship service. But children need to wiggle, and they need to keep their little fingers busy. So welcome them to play on the floor, or color, play with fidgets or phones or playdough, or bounce a beach ball when they need to. It’s ok if there are messes or noises or interruptions, we’ll go with the flow, have a good laugh, and praise the Lord.

We keep our services small. We’ll add more services as needed so we can keep our services from getting overwhelming and over-crowded.

We’re always learning. We’re open to new ideas that help draw people closer to Christ. We’re open to trying new things that will make our friends more comfortable. We’re always looking to tweak our work to glorify God.

Love. We’re gonna try to love you like Jesus loves you. We won’t be perfect, but we’ll try to offer grace to each other and ourselves. And we’re going to find ways to reach out to the community so they can know God’s love and grace, too.

I hope you come and try out Streams of Grace and go to church – and be the church – wherever and however God leads you. Come see us this Sunday and bring a friend!

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who supported and joined us in our launch service yesterday! So many great things happened –
A dream came true and a church was born
God answered our prayers to hold off the bad weather
God moved us and there were happy tears and happy hearts
Friends were made
Prayers were prayed
Praises were sung
Guitar was played
Kids got to play

People walking by heard worship music and prayer and the Bible and preaching
We drew closer to Jesus
There were snacks and playdough and beach balls
We learned that no matte what labels we’ve been given, accepted, or told ourselves, the most important one, the one that covers over all the rest, is being loved by God.

We hope you’ll join us next week for our second service! We are looking forward to a great time together worshipping Jesus. Please bring a friend along! For more info, visit www.streamsofgrace.org

Labeled: Loved.

Oh, we’ve got labels, don’t we? Names. Nicknames. Titles. Roles. Diagnosis. Not to mention the bad things we say to ourselves or that we hear from others. But God has given us a new label! He calls us, “Loved.” Come on out to our Launch Service on Sunday, June 5th at 2:30 PM to talk about how God gives us the most important label of all, the one that says how we are loved by Him. Can’t wait to see you!

Church on the Move

We’re a church on the move! And we are excited! We have big news about our church launch, and we love it. But first, we had to make a small change to our worship location. You see, this week, as we were rushing headfirst into final preparations for our first ever service launch, we discovered that our meeting place was not going to work out for the time being. Although this was unexpected, disappointing, and unforeseen, it was also unavoidable. It just happened and sometimes, that’s just life. But since we serve a God who makes a way where there is no way, we decided to forge ahead!

That’s right, we’ll be launching our very first service THIS SUNDAY at 2:30 PM. And we are going to take our worship services on the go. Until we find our worship place, we’ll be visiting various parks and venues so that we can share our mission and vision with those around us. Got a suggestion for a great park in the Lehigh Valley area? Awesome – drop us a line and maybe we’ll spend a Sunday there. For now, please be in prayer for our worship services and the people that will come. We’ll post here each week as soon as we know where our location will be. Stay tuned for this Sunday’s location!

Make sure you find us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest and greatest details. Have questions? Let us know. Have friends that need to worship with us? Invite them! See you soon!

What kind of a church is Streams of Grace?

I peeked my head in the back of another church’s worship service as I was passing by. I didn’t have time to stay, but there was a bit of commotion and I wanted to see what was going on. I couldn’t understand the language that was being spoken, but I could follow what was happening. The congregation was busy praising God and the joy was clearly written in their eyes and on their smiles as they sang. There was a little dancing, and a little bit of clapping, and there were children singing and praising God right along with the adults. And there were babies – so many babies- in bouncy seats, and baby slings, and a few toddling about in brightly colored baby walkers. There was a bustle of activity and a whole lot of joy. And this was a moment from God, an inspiration for what His church could look like. In that short moment, a dream was born.

Streams of Grace is that dream. It’s a church where people can come together and praise God and grow closer to Him, without having to worry about being judged. It’s a church with a little flexibility and a whole lot of patience, where it’s ok to wiggle, and fidget, and sprawl on the floor, where we know that noise happens, and messes happen, and dancing happens, and fun and joy happen, because children and adults are all welcome and important and loved. And because children and adults are all a part of God’s story.  We’ll learn to receive – and give – God’s grace, explore the Bible, share our hopes and our joys and our struggles, sing, and pray, and laugh. We won’t be perfect, but we will be included, accepted, and loved. I hope you’ll join us at our very first worship service, June 5th, at 2:30 PM!  (You’ll find us at 1247 S. Cedar Crest Blvd, Suite 100, Allentown, Pa 18103).

Launch Date

It’s official!

Streams of Grace Church will launch on June 5, 2016 at 2:30 PM!

This is a busy time for Streams of Grace and we haven’t even officially started having services yet. We are busy planning details, working on advertising, and organizing helpers. Shopping for fidgets and coloring books. Thinking about what songs we should sing, what Bible verses we should talk about, how many chairs we should set up for our very first service! We are working hard to create a space and an experience that are safe and comfortable and friendly and inspiring so we can all worship Jesus together and grow closer to Him. Most of all, we are praying. Praying that God sends us people to grow His church, gives us words to inspire hope and healing and joy, and helps us every step of the way.

Will you join us?

A brand new church and I’m off the wall excited

Streams of Grace Church is a brand new church, with a brand new mission, one which I’ve had the privilege of praying over for more than a year. I am so excited that God has put me on this journey, and overwhelmed that in His grace, He has called me to pastor here.

Our mission is simple – to provide a safe and loving atmosphere for families to worship together, especially families who may struggle to worship at other churches because of special needs, both visible and invisible. My calling has always been about helping others worship Jesus, especially through music, through Scripture, through prayer. I want to help you draw closer to Christ through a church that is accessible, accepting, inclusive, and loving.

We are a new church, with a new mission, and that means we’ll have a few growing pains! But that also means lots of opportunities to serve God in new capacities. Do you have a gift or a talent you would like to use to serve God? Let’s talk! Do you or your family member have a special need that we can help you with so that you can worship with us? Let’s talk! Do you want someone to pray for and with you? Let’s talk!

I am thankful to CICS of the Lehigh Valley for providing us with a place to meet and worship together, and thankful that you are here, checking us out.  I am off the wall excited to tell you that our first service will launch on June 5th at 2:30 PM at CICS. You are welcome here! I can’t wait to meet you.

Please pray for me and I’ll pray for you,
