There are lots of churches to choose from, why choose Streams of Grace?
At Streams of Grace, we strive to create a culture that is loving and nonjudgmental, so you can be yourself, your children can be who they are, and we all learn and grow in God’s grace, together. Our ultimate goal is to love God, each other, and share that love with the people that God puts in our path. How do we this?
Adaptations. While we want to keep the key elements that make up a great worship service, we also recognize that some of our friends may benefit from adapting those elements. For example, while we love preaching the Word of God, we find creative ways to break it up into smaller segments because listening can be hard work, no matter how young or old you are.
Tangible activities. We also include some tangible activities that help us remember what we talked about and keep it going throughout our week. In our first service, we used name tags to write out our negative labels that bring us down. Then we wrote out a new label, and we used it to cover over all the old negative ones. The new label simply said, “Hi. My name is: loved by God.”
Volume. We keep our volumes lower. We love to sing praises to God, but we know that sometimes loud volumes keep people from worshiping freely. So we aim to keep our music a little mellow and a little bit quiet, even though we sing a range of songs from modern worship, to meaningful children’s songs, to great hymns. We love our worship leader’s beautiful voice, and we love to hear you sing, too! Most importantly, God loves it when we sing to Him.
We let kids be kids. Yes, we love and encourage our children to pay attention because they stay with us in the worship service. But children need to wiggle, and they need to keep their little fingers busy. So welcome them to play on the floor, or color, play with fidgets or phones or playdough, or bounce a beach ball when they need to. It’s ok if there are messes or noises or interruptions, we’ll go with the flow, have a good laugh, and praise the Lord.
We keep our services small. We’ll add more services as needed so we can keep our services from getting overwhelming and over-crowded.
We’re always learning. We’re open to new ideas that help draw people closer to Christ. We’re open to trying new things that will make our friends more comfortable. We’re always looking to tweak our work to glorify God.
Love. We’re gonna try to love you like Jesus loves you. We won’t be perfect, but we’ll try to offer grace to each other and ourselves. And we’re going to find ways to reach out to the community so they can know God’s love and grace, too.
I hope you come and try out Streams of Grace and go to church – and be the church – wherever and however God leads you. Come see us this Sunday and bring a friend!
